Altering Gap Year Plans: Is a Second Deferment Possible?

I already took a gap year but now I'm considering if it's possible to request another deferment before starting college. Has anyone done this or know if it's generally allowed?

The ability to take a second gap year, or to defer a second time, often depends on the policies of the individual school. Some colleges have policies allowing for a second deferment, but they usually require substantial documentation or rationale for the request. Most colleges value what gap years can bring to the viewpoint and maturity of their students, but they also want to ensure students are committed to attending eventually.

For example, some colleges require that, during your gap year, you can't enroll in a degree-granting program at another institution. If your plans for the second gap year involve any kind of coursework, this could limit your options. Also note that usually, financial aid and scholarships may need to be reevaluated if you take another gap year.
