How do I request an interview with Wesleyan University?

I'm aiming to apply to Wesleyan and I heard that interviews can be really helpful. Can someone explain the process to request an interview and how important it is in the application process?

Wesleyan University offers optional interviews which are more of a conversation than a formal question-and-answer session. The goal is to facilitate a better understanding of the student’s experiences, accomplishments, and interest in Wesleyan. There are two types of interviews at Wesleyan: Admission interviews and Alumni interviews. You can request for either.

Admission interviews are conducted by a member of the Admission staff or a Senior Interviewer (a current Wesleyan student). Although these interviews occur at the Wes campus, the university also offers interviews during select college fairs, high schools throughout the USA, and in many international locations.

Alumni interviews are conducted by Wesleyan graduates and are available in select regions of the country during specific times of the year, usually from mid-August to mid-December.

It’s important to note that both types of interviews at Wesleyan are evaluative, which means they're factored into your application review, and they allow your voice to come forward in another format beyond essays and letters of recommendation.

In terms of scheduling an interview, you would need to check Wesleyan’s site on 'Interviews' to see the available slots and request an interview. The interview schedule fills up quickly, so it's suggested to apply for an interview as early as possible.

Keep in mind that not being able to schedule an interview will not negatively impact your admission decision.
