What happens after a university interview?

I just had my first college interview, but now I'm unsure about what happens next. How long does it take to hear back, and should I send a thank you note to the interviewer?

Once your interview is completed, it is recommended that you follow up with a thank you note to the interviewer, typically within 24 to 48 hours, to express your appreciation for their time. This is not a requirement but it's a good way to show your continued interest in the school and your professionalism.

As to when you will hear back, that often depends on the college and the admissions timeline. Your interview is likely to be one of the final stages of the application review process. If your university interview was held during the Early Decision/Early Action cycle, you can expect to hear back mid-December. For Regular Decision candidates, colleges usually give their decision between late March and early April.

Remember that the interview is just one component of the college application process. Until you receive your admission decision, keep working on other parts of your application, continue applying to other schools, and stay focused academically. Good luck!
