What should I wear for a university interview?

I'm a girl, and I have a university interview coming up. I'm stressing about what to wear. I want to make a good impression but also stay true to myself. Any suggestions on appropriate attire for females?

It's great to hear that you want to maintain your authenticity while still dressing appropriately for your university interview. This is an important balance to strike. While different institutions might have varying expectations, there are some general guidelines you can follow.

Business casual is typically safe for most college interviews. Your outfit should lean more towards professional, while at the same time reflecting who you are as a person. For instance, a blouse paired with tailored pants or a knee-length skirt could work well. You could also consider a dress that isn't too flashy or overly casual.

In terms of color, it may be beneficial to stick with muted or neutral tones (think blacks, greys, whites, or pastels), but feel free to add a pop of color to show your personality if you'd like. Avoid clothes that are too tight, too loose, or too revealing for a professional setting.

Subtle accessories can add a bit of flair to your outfit. A nice watch, pair of earrings, or a delicate necklace can pull an outfit together without being overly distracting.

As for footwear, comfort is paramount because you might need to do a bit of walking depending on the campus. Flats or low heels are generally a safe bet.

Remember, the focus of the interview should be on what you say, not what you wear. As long as you're comfortable and feel confident in what you're wearing, your authenticity and character will shine through. Best of luck with your interview!
