Is an interview required for freshman admission to Rice University?

I'm wondering if Rice University requires incoming freshmen to go through an interview as part of the admission process. If so, how important is it in the overall application?

No, Rice University does not require an interview for incoming freshmen. While they do offer an opportunity for applicants to have an informational interview with an alumnus, it is not mandatory part of the application process. The interview is meant to allow you to ask questions about the Rice experience and share more about yourself, but please note, this is informational and non-evaluative, so it doesn't impact your admission decision.

Regardless, participating in an interview can be a valuable experience. It can provide more information about the college and offer insight into the student experience there. Furthermore, it shows your interest in the college which could possibly play a minor role in the admission process, even though it's not officially part of the evaluation. If you're offered an interview and feel comfortable doing it, it could definitely be worthwhile.
