Tips on what to wear for a medical university interview?

I've been invited to interview for a pre-med program, and I'm unsure about what to wear. Should I play it safe with formal attire or is business casual okay? I'd appreciate any advice as I want to make a good impression!

Congrats on reaching the point of a med school interview! That's an achievement in itself. In terms of attire, the safest and most common choice is indeed, formal professional attire. This typically means a black, navy, or gray suit for both men and women. For underneath your suit, choose a plain, preferably white, shirt or blouse.

Ensure your shoes are polished and complement the professional nature of your outfit, such as dress shoes or modest heels. As for accessories, it's advisable to keep jewelry to a minimum, too flashy can be distracting. Make sure to choose a tie that is understated and not too vibrant if you're wearing one.

Remember cleanliness and grooming are equally as important as what you wear. Freshly washed and neatly styled hair, trimmed nails, minimal cologne or perfume, and appropriately done makeup will contribute to a positive impression.

Lastly, the ultimate rule is to be comfortable in what you wear. If you're uncomfortable in your outfit, it may affect your performance in the interview. Your comfort and confidence in your appearance can allow you to focus on what's most important - presenting your skills and experiences effectively.

Best of luck with your interview!
