Tips for managing stress during the college process?

The whole college application scene is really stressing me out. Between essays, tests, and deadlines, it's a lot. Does anyone have advice for keeping the stress levels down while still staying on top of everything?

Absolutely here are a few tips to help manage stress during the college application process:

1. Break it down: One of the biggest stressors of the process is how big and complex it can sometimes seem. One effective strategy is to break the process into smaller manageable parts. Tackle one application at a time, or even one essay topic or section at a time.

2. Stay organized: Keep track of deadlines, testing dates, college visits, etc., in a planner or digital calendar. Being organized can help prevent any last-minute scrambles and reduce overall anxiety.

3. Start early: The earlier you begin, the more time you have to avoid feeling rushed. It can be helpful to start on your applications and essays during the summer before your senior year.

4. Take breaks: While it's important to stay focused and work hard, you also need to take breaks when you need to. This could be anything from a few minutes to stretch or get a snack, to a day off to hang out with friends.

5. Practice self-care: Make sure to eat well, exercise regularly and get enough sleep. Treat yourself occasionally and do things you enjoy to break up the work.

6. Breathe: Deep, focused breathing can help to reduce anxiety. When you feel overwhelmed, you might find it beneficial to take a few minutes to sit quietly and focus on your breathing.

7. Seek support: Don’t hesitate to talk to someone about your stress level. It could be a teacher, counselor, or even just a friend or family member. They may be able to provide perspective, offer advice, or simply listen.

Remember, your college decisions do not define you. You have many fabulous qualities that promote your future success regardless of where you attend college. Focus on finding a school where you'll be happy and thrive academically and socially.
