Which trades can secure me a job after high school?

I'm thinking that rather than college, I might go into a trade. Are there specific trades that practically guarantee job placement once you're trained?

There are several trades that often report high job placement rates, especially given the current demand for skilled workers, though it's crucial to note that individual success can vary based on location, work ethic, and the quality of one's training.

One such trade is the field of Electricians. Electricians install and maintain electrical power systems in homes, businesses, and factories. The increasingly widespread use of electricity and the necessary replacement of older facilities make this a needful trade. An apprenticeship program is usually required for this career and it often involves both classroom instruction and hands-on training.

Plumbing is another high-demand trade. Plumbers install and repair pipes that carry liquids or gases to and even inside buildings. They also install sanitary facilities such as lavatories and sinks. Just like electricians, most plumbers learn through apprenticeship work.

The HVAC field (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems. As more buildings require advanced climate control solutions, demand for well-trained HVAC technicians is on the rise.

Another trade to consider is Welding. Welders use heat to fuse materials, typically metals, together. Welders work in several industries, from automotive manufacturing to infrastructure construction.

Remember that no trade can guarantee an immediate job placement after training or apprenticeship, but these trades are often in high demand. Before pursuing a trade, try to get exposure to the work involved and speak to professionals already in the field to make sure it aligns with your interests and aptitudes.
