Which trade jobs are best suited for people who don’t like heights?

I have a fear of heights, so climbing ladders or working on high structures isn’t my thing. Are there trade jobs that primarily stay on the ground and avoid high places?

Absolutely, there are numerous trade jobs that don't involve heights at all. Here are a few examples:

1. Automotive Mechanic: This job centers on repairing and maintaining vehicles, and the majority of the work is done on the ground or in garages.

2. Electrician: While some electricians do need to work at heights, many jobs, such as residential or commercial wiring, are typically performed at ground level.

3. Plumber: Although plumbers might need to work in confined spaces, they tend not to have to work at heights. They install, repair, and maintain plumbing fixtures in homes, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities.

4. Welder: Welders join and cut metal parts, often in a workshop environment. They generally conduct their work at ground level.

5. HVAC Technician: Much of the work of installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems is done indoors and at ground level.

6. Mason: Brickmasons, blockmasons, and stonemasons build and repair walls, walkways, and other structures with brick, stone, or concrete blocks, which typically doesn't involve significant heights.

It is important to note, though, that while these jobs generally avoid high places, there can sometimes be exceptions depending on the specific project. Be sure to dig into the specifics of the job before committing to ensure it fits your comfort zone.
