Do colleges have options for late applications for 2025?

I missed the regular deadline for a few universities I'm interested in. Are there schools that typically accept late applications, especially for fall 2025? If so, how do these late applications work and will my chances be lower?

While missing regular deadlines can be stressful, there are a number of colleges out there that accept late applications. Here are a few, to help you decide on your next move.

1. Colleges with Rolling Admissions: These schools continue to accept applications until all spots are filled. This typically happens later into the year and sometimes even into the summer before classes begin. As for quality institutions, Michigan State University and University of Pittsburgh are a few that offer rolling admissions.

2. Colleges with Late Deadline: A handful of colleges have regular application deadlines that are later than the usual Jan 1 or Jan 15. University of Houston, Florida State University, and University of Iowa are examples of schools with February or March deadlines.

Overall, applying late does have some downsides. An important aspect to note is that financial aid and housing options may be limited or depleted by the time your application is assessed. Additionally, many highly competitive programs fill their spots during the regular decision timeline, so there are indeed some programs that will no longer be available.

You'll still want your application to be as strong as possible. Concentrate on those elements you do have control over: solid essays, strong letters of recommendation, and a thorough review of your application for any errors. Good luck!
