Will my SNHU credits transfer to other colleges?

I'm currently studying at SNHU but considering switching schools. I'm really worried about whether my credits will transfer to another college. Has anyone had success with transferring SNHU credits, or know how I can find out?

The transferability of credits generally hinges upon the policies of the institution you're looking to transfer into. Here's what you should consider:

1. Accreditation: SNHU is regionally accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), which is one of the six regional accrediting bodies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. This is the highest form of accreditation, so most schools ought to accept credits earned at SNHU.

2. Course Equivalency: Each college has its own course equivalency tables that indicate how skills and content from one course can be equaled to another course. So, if the course content aligns closely between SNHU and your prospective school, it's more likely that your credits will transfer.

3. Grade Requirements: Some colleges may only accept transferred credits where you achieved a specific grade or higher, typically a C or above.

If you have a specific school in mind, I'd recommend reaching out to their admissions or registrar's office to discuss the specific process they have in place for credit transfer. Sometimes, colleges have articulation agreements with one another, which can ease the transfer process and make certain the credits you've already earned will be fully acknowledged.

Lastly, be sure to request an official transcript from SNHU when you're starting this process, as your prospective school will ask for this documentation.

In essence, while most regionally accredited schools are generally accepting of credits from SNHU, the exact policies and procedures will depend on the school you're transferring to. So, it's a good idea to research and inquire at your prospective college individually.
