Does NYU accept community college transfer credits?

I'm planning on applying to NYU after attending a community college, but I'm curious about how they handle transfer credits. Can anyone share their experiences or what they've heard about this?

From my understanding, New York University does accept transfer credits from accredited two-year and four-year institutions, including community colleges. The process includes an evaluation of your transfer credits once you're admitted.

Generally, credits are transferable if the course was comparable in content and breadth to a course NYU offers, it was completed with a grade of C or better (grades of 'P' for Pass are accepted, given the 'P' is equivalent to the grade of C or better), and if the course was not vocational or for remedial. However, the total number of transferable credits and how they apply to your degree will vary depending on the particular school or program within NYU that you apply to, as each has its own specific policies and requirements for transferred courses.

It's always advisable to work closely with your community college's Counseling or Transfer Center and NYU admissions or advising offices to ensure that your credits will transfer appropriately and meet NYU degree requirements. And remember, more than just securing transferable credits, it's also crucial to maintain a solid GPA, as NYU is quite selective, even for transfer students.

In addition, it might be helpful to know that NYU also considers other things like your personal statement, letters of recommendation, and extracurricular activities in their admissions process.

So, while I can't offer any personal experiences, that's the general policy as far as I'm aware. It's always advisable to check the specific policies of the university and program you're interested in, as policies might vary and could also possibly change over time. Good luck with your transfer process!
