Florida Keys Community College Application Process

I'm planning to apply to Florida Keys Community College and was hoping to get some insights on their application process. Are there important dates or documents that I should be aware of to ensure my application is complete?

Sure, I'd be more than happy to guide you through the application process at Florida Keys Community College (FKCC).

FKCC follows a rolling admission policy, which means you can apply at any time throughout the year. However, it's always a good idea to apply well in advance of the semester in which you plan to start classes. This gives you ample time to finalize your financial aid, housing, and class registration.

Here's what you'll need to apply to FKCC:

1. Completed admissions application: You can do this online via their website easily.

2. Submit your high school or GED transcripts: Your high school counselor should be able to provide these for you. If you've completed any college or university courses elsewhere, you'll want to get official transcripts from those institutions as well.

3. Proof of residency: As a public institution in Florida, FKCC has different tuition rates for residents and non-residents, so you need to establish your residency status.

4. Test Scores: Traditional aged students, graduated within the last 5 years, that haven't completed any college or university courses may have to take a common placement test (CPT) at the FKCC Testing Center. (For anyone who has completed coursework at another institution, this is not required.)

5. Immunization Records: Florida State Law requires all students to either provide proof of vaccinations against measles and rubella or sign an immunization waiver.

Once your application has been submitted and all necessary documents have been received, you should receive a decision fairly quickly. Be sure to check with the FKCC admissions department to make sure they've received everything and to find out when you can expect a decision.

Lastly, don't forget to fill out the FAFSA for financial aid consideration. Even if you don't think you'll qualify for aid, it's a good idea to fill it out just in case.

Remember that each student's situation is unique, and there could be additional steps depending on your situation. So it's always a good idea to get in touch with FKCC's admissions office if you're unsure about anything. Good luck!
