What's the process for applying for graduation at Bergen Community College?

I'm nearing the end of my program at Bergen Community College, and I'm not sure how to apply for graduation. Can anyone explain the process and any important deadlines I need to be aware of?

Sure, I'm glad to assist with this. The first step to graduating from Bergen Community College is to apply for graduation during the appropriate application period. This often takes place during the semester prior to when you expect to complete your degree requirements.

A vital component of this is ensuring that you've completed (or are on track to complete) all of your degree requirements. You want to check your degree audit report carefully, to ensure that you've fulfilled all your classes and credits. If there are discrepancies or pending transfers, it would be beneficial to discuss this with an advisor to ensure they are resolved in a timely manner.

Once you've done this, you can apply for graduation through WebAdvisor. Under "Students menu", you will find “Graduation Application” under the "Academic Planning" section. You'll need to follow the steps and fill out the necessary information. Once you've done this, your application will be reviewed to ensure you're on track to complete your degree requirements.

For deadlines, it's crucial to remember that Bergen Community College holds Commencement once a year in May and the deadline to apply for graduation is usually in March (for May completion). Students who complete requirements in August or December are invited to participate in the May commencement. It's always helpful to visit the school’s Graduation webpage or contact the Registrar’s Office to get the most updated and accurate information as these dates may vary.

Also, even if you do not plan to participate in the Commencement ceremony, you still need to apply for graduation, as the graduation application process results in you officially receiving your degree.

Finally, each semester BCC provides Graduation Workshops where they walk you through the entire graduation process. Contact your advisor for availability and sign up as it might be beneficial for you.

I hope this helps! Take note of the deadlines and keep an open line of communication with your advisor. Best of luck on your upcoming graduation!
