Which colleges accept a D grade for transfer credit?

I got a D in one of my courses, and I'm considering transferring. Are there colleges that might accept this grade for transfer credit, or should I retake the class?

The transfer policies vary widely from college to college, and there unfortunately isn't a list of all colleges that will accept a D grade for transfer credit. However, most colleges generally require that undergraduate transfer coursework in order to be eligible for credit be completed with a grade of C- or better.

Here is what you can do:

1. Check with the specific colleges: Contact the admissions office or look up the transfer policies on the websites of the colleges you're interested in. Some colleges may have different policies for different majors, or different rules for core requirements versus electives.

2. Retake the course: If the class is an important prerequisite for your intended major, or you received a D in a class central to your major, it might be beneficial to retake the class. Colleges like to see students showing initiative to improve their grades, especially in subject areas related to their intended major.

3. Consider your other credits: If this is your only D and most of your grades are A's and B's, it may not be such a hindrance. But if this D is part of a larger trend, it might be beneficial to figure out how you can improve your grades overall.

Remember, transferring colleges isn't just about grades and credits. It's also about finding a college that's the right fit for you, and where you can succeed academically and personally. Good luck!
