Does community service improve college applications?

How much weight does community service carry on college applications? Is it essential to have significant community service hours to stand out or are there other factors that are more important?

Community service, like any other extracurricular activity, can indeed have a positive impact on your college application. However, it's not so much about the act of doing community service, but rather what you gain from that experience that matters most.

When used on your application, it can demonstrate to colleges your ability to commit to a cause, work collaboratively, manage time effectively, or even your personal growth or passion for a certain cause.
