Does NYU accept transfer credits from community colleges?

I'm at a community college right now and hoping to transfer to NYU in the future. Can anyone tell me if NYU is open to accepting transfer credits from community college students? I'd love to hear from anyone who's done it!

Yes, New York University (NYU) is open to accepting transfer credits from community colleges. However, the process is not automatic and is subject to review by NYU. The university considers the course level, content, grade, and the accreditation of the community college when evaluating transfer credits.

Here's a brief rundown of the process:

1. Submit Official Transcripts: When you apply to NYU, you'll need to submit official transcripts from all the colleges you've attended. This includes your community college.

2. Course Evaluation: NYU will then evaluate your courses to determine if they're equivalent to courses offered at NYU. They generally accept courses that are similar to those in their catalog, are for credit, and in which you've earned at least a C grade.

3. Credit Translation: After your courses have been assessed, the credits will be translated into NYU credits.

Bear in mind that not all credits might transfer, and some might be counted as elective credits rather than fulfilling specific course requirements at NYU. Once you're admitted, NYU will provide a Transfer Credit Statement that outlines how each of your courses has been evaluated.

It's encouraged to also reach out to the NYU admissions office directly to discuss your specific situation or to find out about any recent changes in their policies. It's also important to keep in mind that transferring to any institution, especially competitive ones like NYU, also involves other factors such as your overall academic performance, involvement in extracurricular activities, and your personal essay. Good luck!
