How does the Colorado College transfer process work?

I'm considering transferring to Colorado College and was wondering how the transfer process is structured. Are there specific steps I should be aware of as a potential transfer student?

When transferring to Colorado College, there are several steps involved in the process you should be aware of:

1. Deadline: Colorado College has a priority deadline for Fall 2024 transfers that is March 1, 2024 and a regular deadline, on May 1, 2024. If you apply after May 1, the transfer applications will be considered on a space-available basis. Applications for Spring 2025 transfer should be submitted by November 1, 2024.

2. Application: Colorado College uses the Common Application for transfer students. As a part of your application, you'll also need to submit a transfer essay that explains why you wish to transfer and what you hope to achieve in your time at Colorado College.

3. College Report: College Report needs to be submitted. This is a form that must be filled out by an official at your current institution to verify your academic and disciplinary standing.

4. Official College Transcripts: You're required to submit official college transcripts from all colleges attended.

5. High School Transcript: High school transcript is also needed.

6. Letter of Recommendation: You'll also need to submit a letter of recommendation preferably from a college professor who has taught you recently.

Remember to keep track of all deadlines and submit your material timely. Furthermore, financial aid for transfer students at Colorado College is need-based only, and the financial aid application deadlines align with the admission application deadlines.

Lastly, due to the Block Plan at Colorado College, transfer credit evaluations are performed after a student is admitted, rather than before. This means you will not know how previous credits will transfer before receiving an admissions decision. After admission, a preliminary evaluation of transfer credit will be provided by the Registrar's Office.

Good luck with your transfer application to Colorado College! Your decision to transfer is an important one and it's great that you're thinking it through thoroughly.
