What's the transfer process like at Montgomery College?

I'm considering a transfer to Montgomery College, and I'd love to know more about their process. Is it straightforward, and how supportive is the college in terms of helping transfer students?

When it comes to transferring to Montgomery College, the process can be quite seamless with adequate planning. The college accepts transfer students in both the fall and spring semesters, which allows you to start your courses at a time that's most convenient for you.

To apply, you need to complete Montgomery College's online application including a $25 application fee. You’ll also need to submit transcripts from all colleges or universities you have previously attended. Even if you’ve only attended one course at a different college, that transcript needs to be included as part of your application.

In terms of support for the transfer process, Montgomery College does quite well. It has a dedicated Transfer Evaluation Services (TES) office that assists students in getting the maximum amount of transferable credits. TES evaluates your previous course history and determines how it aligns with your intended program at Montgomery College. Keep in mind that Montgomery college accepts up to 70 transferable credits from community colleges and up to 90 from four-year colleges and universities.

Once you've applied, it’s also encouraged to go through the orientation program specifically designed for transfer students. The orientation program aims to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the school's resources, culture, and the academic planning process. Furthermore, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with academic advisors who can guide you on the transition process and plan your course sequence, especially if you intend to further transfer to a four-year university after completing your studies at Montgomery College.

In summary, the transfer process at Montgomery College has been designed keeping the student convenience in mind and aims to provide effective support to successfully enroll and transition into the college. It's important for you to maintain good communication and relationship with your academic advisor, as they will be instrumental in guiding you through this transition.
