Westmont College transfer credits: How to transfer?

I'm planning to transfer to Westmont College and I'm curious about how transfer credits work there. Does anyone have experience with which credits are most likely to transfer smoothly?

Transfer credit policies can vary by institution, but at Westmont College, earning transfer credits typically follows a certain process.

Most importantly, Westmont accepts transfer credits from regionally accredited colleges and universities. You're more likely to have your credits accepted if you've taken courses that are similar in content and rigor to what is offered at Westmont.

The general stipulation for transfer credits at Westmont is that your coursework must be completed with a grade of C- or higher to be considered for transfer. Furthermore, the maximum number of transfer credits from two-year colleges that they accept is 64 semester units. If you're transferring from a 4-year college or university though, there's no limit to the number of units that can be transferred.

Bear in mind that certain departments might have specific stipulations in terms of which classes or credits will transfer. For example, some science departments might not accept lab credits from a different college.

Westmont College has a Transfer Equivalency System where you can see how courses from your current institution will articulate to Westmont. If a course isn't listed, it doesn't mean it won't transfer, but you may need to contact the Westmont Registrar for further guidance.

If you're considering transferring to Westmont College, setting up a meeting with an admissions counselor would be beneficial. They can help guide you through the process, navigate potential stumbling blocks, and advise you on which of your current courses will likely be accepted for credit. The counseling staff also can help you with the application process and assist in providing specific course-to-course equivalencies. Remember to get official transcripts from your current institution, as these will be required in the credit evaluation process.

Lastly, keep in mind that all students (both transfer and first-year) must complete at least 62 units of the 128 required units in residence at Westmont.
