How do I apply for dual enrollment at Delaware County Community College?

I'm a high school junior interested in starting some college courses early. Can anyone share details on applying for dual enrollment at Delaware County Community College?

Dual enrollment can be a great way to get a headstart on your college education and potentially earn some college credits while in high school. To apply for dual enrollment at Delaware County Community College (DCCC), you will need to follow several steps.

First, you should discuss your intentions with your high school counselor. They should be able to guide you through the process and confirm that the credits from DCCC are compatible with your high school requirements.

Next, complete the Dual Enrollment Application on the DCCC website. This will require some personal information and details about the high school courses you are currently taking. You’ll also have to indicate the college courses that you wish to take.

At this stage, you will need a signed Dual Enrollment Authorization Form. This form requires the signatures of your parent/guardian, as well as your high school counselor or principal, who will confirm that you're academically prepared and that the dual enrollment course aligns with your high school course requirements.

DCCC typically requires that dual enrollment students have a minimum high school GPA of 2.5. And, some specific college-level courses might require a higher GPA.

After you've submitted the application and all the required forms, DCCC's admissions office will process your application. If you’re accepted, you’ll receive a letter of admission and further instructions to enroll in the courses you are interested in.

Lastly, just remember that as a dual enrollment student, you're responsible for all college costs including tuition, fees, and books unless your school district has a contract with DCCC that states otherwise.

Make sure to verify all this information as well as important dates or deadlines on DCCC's actual website or consult with your school counselor as some details could vary.
