What are the requirements to transfer from American River College to UCLA?

I'm at ARC and dreaming of transferring to UCLA. What requirements do I need to fulfill to make it happen? Any specific courses or GPA I should be aware of? Stories from others who transferred would be awesome!

To transfer from American River College (ARC) to UCLA, adhering to the requirements set out by UCLA is crucial. UCLA accepts junior-level transfers and you must have at least 60 semester or 90 quarter units by the time of transfer. While a minimum of 3.2 GPA is required in your transferable courses, the average GPA of admitted transfer students is around 3.5 and above. Competition for admission is rigorous, so your GPA should ideally be on the higher end.

Course-wise, you need to complete the University of California’s (UC) general education breadth requirement or the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC). You should also complete the lower division coursework for your intended major to strengthen your profile. You can find the specific transfer admit data for each major on the UCLA Undergraduate Admission page which gives you a good idea of what you should aim for.

Your personal insight questions carry substantial weight in the application process. Hence, make a list of experiences that shaped your academics, leadership skills, or other unique skills that make you a good fit for UCLA. Remember to keep it personal and authentic.

While applying, you have to complete two applications: the University of California Application and the Supplemental Application for Transfer. Both applications ask for coursework and grades. The supplemental application includes additional questions to provide more information about your preparation for your intended major.

I hope this helps and best of luck with your transfer journey!
