How to apply for scholarships at Lansing Community College?

I'm trying to figure out how to apply for scholarships at Lansing Community College to help cover tuition. Can anyone share how the scholarship application process works and any deadlines?

Lansing Community College (LCC) offers several scholarships to students, and the process of applying for these scholarships is centralized through an online scholarship application system.

1. Create an LCC Account: If you haven't already, you'll need to create an account with LCC to start. This will become your portal for applying for scholarships and tracking your applications.

2. Log in to StarZone: You then log into the StarZone, which is LCC's student information system. You can access the Scholarship Application by searching for it in the Resources tab or the search bar.

3. Complete the Application: The scholarship application involves filling out your details, and academic information, and answering a few short essay questions. The details and responses you provide on this application will be used to match you with scholarships for which you may be eligible.

4. Monitor Your Application: After you've submitted your application, you can monitor its status through your StarZone account. You'll also receive notifications if there are any additional requirements for specific scholarships or if you've been awarded a scholarship.

The scholarship cycle for the following academic year usually opens each year in December and closes in March. For the most accurate deadlines, however, you should visit LCC's scholarship website or contact the Financial Aid office.

Remember to also apply for federal financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This can open up eligibility for federal, state, and other types of aid on top of any LCC scholarships you might earn.

One important thing to note is that LCC awards many of its scholarships based on financial need. Therefore, it is crucial to complete the FAFSA – even if you do not think you’ll qualify. The assessment of financial need can be more nuanced than straight income levels.

Best of luck with your scholarship applications at LCC!
