Best Transfer Schools from Portland Community College?

I'm currently attending Portland Community College and considering transferring to a four-year university soon. Does anyone know which schools have the best transfer pathways or are particularly receptive to PCC students? Any personal experiences would help too!

I'm glad to see you're considering your next steps! Oregon State University and Portland State University are particularly receptive to transfers from Portland Community College (PCC), as they have solid transfer pathways. Translation: These schools have made agreements with PCC to make the transfer process as smooth as possible.

OSU in particular has a Degree Partnership Program (DPP) which allows students to be dual enrolled at both PCC and OSU which facilitates a seamless transition. This kind of program allows you to coordinate financial aid between the two schools, provides access to academic advising at both institutions, and allows you to simply transition to OSU when you've finished your courses at PCC.

Portland State University, on the other hand, offers a co-admission program with PCC, which allows you to be admitted to both institutions and can save you the trouble of sending multiple transcripts during your transfer.

University of Oregon is another great option. They have a number of transfer credit agreements with PCC and an annual Transfer Enrollment Event exclusive for PCC students. This event provides an opportunity to meet with faculty and explore potential majors.

Outside of Oregon, if you're looking for more prestigious universities, USC (University of Southern California), has one of the highest transfer acceptance rates of top-tier universities and they accept quite a few community college transfer students each year. I would recommend device a compelling personal story and strong academic record if you're considering taking that route.

Remember to always verify any articulation agreements or pathway programs by contacting the admissions office of the four-year university you're targeting. They can provide you with specifics on which credits will transfer and what resources are available to guide you through the process.
