Can I Use Career Step Medical Terminology for College Credit Transfer?

I took a medical terminology course with Career Step and was wondering if there's any way to transfer this credit to a college. Has anyone had experience with this, or know if it's possible?

While each college or university may have its own policies regarding the transferability of career-specific coursework, most tend to prioritize transfer credits from accredited institutions that offer college-level coursework. Career Step, being a career and vocational training institution, may not necessarily meet these requirements.

However, the best way to know for certain is by reaching out to the admissions office or the registrar at the college you are interested in attending. They'll be able to tell you if your medical terminology course from Career Step could potentially be transferred and counted towards your degree.

It may also be useful to have information such as course syllabi, detailed course descriptions or an official transcript handy, to share with the college during this process. These documents will help the institution assess the academic rigor of the course and determine whether it aligns with their curriculum.

Keep in mind that in some cases, there might be an examination you can take to test out of certain requirements or receive credit for knowledge gained outside of a traditional academic setting. For medical terminology, this could be an exam like the Medical Terminology Certification (MTC) provided by the American Medical Certification Association. Always double-check with your specific institution if such options exist!
