Can I transfer Sophie class credits to Excelsior College as upper division?

I have some credits from Sophia Learning and I'm wondering if they can transfer to Excelsior College as upper division credits. Has anyone gone through this process or can share their experience with credit transfers at Excelsior?

As of my knowledge up to the date of this post, Sophia Learning generally offers lower-division coursework, equivalent to the 100 and 200 level courses at many institutions. These tend to be general education or introductory courses. Transfer of these credits into Excelsior College would typically place them as lower-division rather than upper-division credit.

Keep in mind that transfer credit decisions are ultimately up to the discretion of Excelsior College. Each school has their own criteria for accepting transfer credits which can be affected by factors such as the subject matter of the course, the grade received, and the accreditation of the institution where the credit was originally earned.

The good news is that Excelsior College is known for a transfer-friendly policy, and it's possible they will accept credits from Sophia Learning, given that Sophia is a regionally accredited institution. However, before making any assumptions, I would strongly recommend reaching out to an academic advisor at Excelsior College for accurate and personalized advice. You'll need to provide them with a transcript or detailed information about the courses you've taken so they can make the most precise credit evaluation.

Remember that transferring credits is a common part of the college experience and the advising office at your school serves the purpose of assisting you through this process. They can help clear up all your queries.
