How does Chaffey College's Associate's of Science for Transfer work?

I'm thinking about getting an Associate's of Science for Transfer at Chaffey College and want to make sure it aligns with my future university plans. Can someone explain how it works and what to expect when transferring to a CSU?

An Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) from a California community college like Chaffey College is a specific kind of associate degree designed to streamline your pathway to a California State University (CSU) campus. It lays out a clear roadmap for students of which courses satisfy general education requirements and which ones count towards the major requirement.

When you complete an ADT, you are guaranteed admission into a CSU, but not necessarily the CSU campus or the specific major you might prefer. In those cases, it would be dependent on the specific CSU and how impacted your desired major is. However, you will be given priority consideration for your local CSU and to non-impacted majors at any other CSU.

You should note that the ADT is accepted by all 23 CSU campuses. However, not every associate degree for transfer offered at a California Community College is accepted by every CSU campus. Therefore, consider working closely with your academic advisor at Chaffey to map out your plan, and to ensure the courses you're taking apply to your desired major at your desired CSU campus.

Once you've earned your ADT and you're ready to transfer, you simply apply in accordance with the CSU's admissions process. If accepted, you would enter as a junior with no more than 60 semester units remaining to earn a bachelor's degree.

Please also note that some private and out-of-state universities recognize and accept ADTs. So, if you're considering institutions beyond the CSU system, an ADT might still aid your transfer and reduce the time to earn your bachelor's degree.
