Can I transfer from Saddleback College to UCI?

I'm currently attending Saddleback College and looking into transferring to UC Irvine. Does anyone know if there's a specific pathway or requirements that Saddleback students need to follow to make this transfer happen?

There's definitely a pathway from Saddleback College to transfer to University of California, Irvine (UCI)! In fact, California community colleges have special arrangements with UC schools for transfer students which are pretty straightforward.

To become a competitive applicant for transfer, you need to:

1. Complete the IGETC (Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum). This ensures you've met general education requirements for all UC schools.

2. Complete the required major preparation coursework. The UC Transfer Admission Planner or ASSIST website can help you figure out which courses are required or recommended for your intended major at UCI.

3. Maintain a strong GPA. While the minimum GPA for transfer is 2.4 for California residents, to be competitive for UCI, you'll generally want to aim for 3.2 or higher.

You should also consider applying for UC's Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) program. Six UC campuses offer guaranteed admission to California community college students who meet specific requirements, and UCI is among them. You’ll need to complete the TAG application and submit it from September 1-30, a year before you plan to transfer.

Hope that helps! Start this process early to ensure you meet all the requirements and deadlines. Good luck with your transfer process!
