San Jose State University transfer credits from community college?

I'm starting at a community college with the goal of transferring to SJSU. How can I determine which classes will transfer over? Any tips or resources would be super helpful.

For transferring credits, you'll want to first speak with an academic counselor at your community college to best understand which courses might transfer over to SJSU, as well as use the resources that SJSU provides.

SJSU maintains a database of articulation agreements on its website, which are official agreements that match coursework from other universities and colleges (including many community colleges) to SJSU courses. This should be a valuable resource for discerning what courses you can take at your current college that would seamlessly carry over into your credit hours at SJSU.

Additionally, SJSU has established the "Transfer Admission Agreement" (TAA), in cooperation with designated California community colleges. Check the list to see if your college is included. If it is, and you meet the eligibility requirements, you could be guaranteed admission to San Jose State University!

Lastly, understanding the general education requirements at SJSU could also be beneficial. You'll be able to map your current classes to those requirements effectively. Your community college might also have a "Transfer Center" or a similar service to aid you through this process.

Don't hesitate to get in touch with SJSU's admissions office. Though they can't provide personalized academic advising for non-students, they should be able to provide some guidance or point you to useful resources.

Keep in mind that even if a course is transferable, it may not automatically apply to your desired major at SJSU, so coordinating with both your community college advisor and any available resources at SJSU should give you the best chance of making your transfer process as smooth and advantageous as possible.
