How do transfer credits work at Coe College?

I'm thinking about transferring to Coe College and I'm wondering how their transfer credit system works. Do they have a max number you can bring in, and are there certain classes that won't transfer?

Understanding how a college handles transfer credits is key to a smooth transition. For Coe College, the process is straightforward. Coe welcomes students transferring from all types of institutions, from community colleges to four-year universities.

Coe College operates on a semester system, so they generally accept transfer credits from any regionally accredited college or university. Transfer credits are typically evaluated on a course-by-course basis, and the college aims to give equivalencies that match as closely as possible to their own curriculum. The process may vary slightly depending on the academic division the course falls under, but overall, they try to be as accommodating as possible.

To ensure that the course qualifies for transfer, you should ideally have earned a grade of a ‘C’ or better in the course. Importantly, grades do not transfer – only credits. This means that your GPA at Coe will be established solely on the grades you earn in courses at Coe.

On the subject of maximum credits, Coe allows students to transfer up to 64 semester hours from two-year institutions and there is no limit for transfer credits coming from a four-year institution.

However, some specific courses may not be eligible for transfer, particularly career-focused or vocational courses, remedial courses, or courses which have no equivalent at Coe. It's always best to speak with the admissions officials at Coe to clarify any specific courses you have questions about.

Finally, prior to registering for the first semester at Coe, each transfer student will meet with a faculty advisor in the academic area of interest. The faculty advisor will make final decisions regarding the applicability of the transfer credits to the Coe degree.

Keep in mind, transfer policies can change, so it's best to check with the school's admissions office or transfer counselor to get the most up-to-date information.
