Transferring Credits to Purdue University

Has anyone transferred college credits to Purdue? I'm aiming to transfer and want to know which classes typically transfer without issues. Any advice on preparing transcripts or dealing with administration?

Purdue University does a great job accepting credits from a wide variety of institutions, but determining the credits that will transfer and apply to your specific degree plan can sometimes be a bit trickier. Here's some advice on ensuring a smooth transfer process:

Firstly, you might want to use Purdue's online tool called the Transfer Credit Database. This database allows you to select your current institution and see which courses have transferred to Purdue in the past. This is a great starting point to identify potentially transferable classes.

Note that this database is not exhaustive. If you don't see a course listed, it doesn’t automatically mean it won't transfer, but you’d need to submit it for review, which I'll explain more about in a moment.

For preparing transcripts, you should order an official copy from your current institution. In most cases, Purdue will require these be sent directly from your current school. Keep track of your request and verify when it has been sent out.

Purdue also has a Credit Transfer Evaluation Form. If your courses aren't in their database, you can use this form to have them evaluated. Bear in mind, the process could take up to a month, so it's ideal to start early. You'll likely need to provide course syllabi or detailed course outlines for this part.

Lastly, staying in constant communication with admissions is key. They are there to help. Clarify any doubts with them, ask what else is needed, and ensure they have everything they require to thoroughly review your application.

Hopefully, this provides you with a good road map to get started. Good luck with the transfer, and remember, start the process early to ensure a smoother transition.
