Credit requirements to transfer to Iowa State University?

I'm thinking of transferring to Iowa State University and need to know how many college credits I should have. Are there specific courses or credits that are more advantageous to transfer?

When transferring to Iowa State University, it's important to understand their specific credit requirements. The minimum requirement is that you have completed at least 24 semester (36 quarter) credits by the time you begin your studies at ISU.

However, credit transferability can depend on a multitude of factors. The types of courses you took at your previous institution, the grades you earned, and how those courses align with ISU's program requirements can all influence whether your credits will be accepted. Earned credits must be from an accredited institution, and you must have achieved a grade of at least a C- (or its equivalent) for the credits to be considered for transfer.

Iowa State has a tool called TRANSIT available online for you to see how your current credits might transfer. It is suggested you use it to see which of your existing courses may fit into your intended program at ISU.

If you are transferring from an Iowa community college, the Transfer Plans and Transfer Course Lists are also great resources, available on the ISU website, to help you understand which courses are most advantageous to take before transferring.

As you move ahead with planning your transfer, it could be helpful to reach out to the Transfer Admissions team at ISU for personalized guidance.
