How does the transfer process work at Colorado College?

I'm thinking about transferring to Colorado College and would like to know more about their transfer admissions process. Are there specific requirements or deadlines I should be aware of? Any tips for a successful application?

Colorado College has a unique process for transfer admission, and it follows a somewhat different path than other schools due to its unusual "Block Plan" of learning. This learning approach offers classes in 3.5-week blocks during which students and professors focus on a single subject.

The college accepts transfer students in both the fall and spring semesters. For fall semester admission, the transfer application deadline is typically March 1, while for spring admission the application deadline is typically October 15. Application materials are due by these dates, and you usually hear back about a decision a few weeks later.

The following are typically required as part of the transfer application:

1. The online application for Transfer Students

2. An official transcript from any college/university you have attended

3. A College Report completed by an official at each institution you’ve attended (usually a Dean of Students or Registrar)

4. A Professor Evaluation (academic evaluation) from a professor who taught a class in which you were enrolled. Choose a professor who knows your work well, who taught a class that aligns with the type of courses you’ll be taking at Colorado College, or a class that’s related to your intended major.

Additionally, Colorado College recommends (but doesn't require) that you submit a mid-term report and standardized test scores (either the ACT or SAT) though these are not absolutely required. For the 2025-2026 application cycle, Colorado College is still a "test-optional" school. If you choose to submit a test score, you can self-report it on your application, so you don't need to additionally send in an official score report.

While not required, having a strong GPA and showing a clear alignment with the unique academic style and ethos of the school would be beneficial for a transfer application. Aim to clearly articulate in your essays why the Block Plan at Colorado College aligns with your personal and academic goals—this can set your application apart from others.

For transfer credit evaluation, Colorado College does not pre-evaluate transcripts prior to admission. They evaluate your courses for transferred credit only after you are offered admission and deposit to enroll. However, you can refer to the Transfer Credit Guidelines available on the college's website for a general understanding of how they typically evaluate transferable credits.

Keep track of your deadlines, gather necessary materials, and be sure to express in your application why you believe Colorado College's unique academic structure aligns with your academic goals to make your application competitive.
