How does the Colorado College transfer application process work?

I'm planning to transfer to Colorado College and would love some insights on the transfer application process. What should I expect in terms of requirements and deadlines? Is there anything unique I should know to boost my application?

Colorado College has quite an explicit process when it comes to transfer applications. Here's a summary of what you can expect as you prepare to apply:

1. Application: Colorado College accepts the Common Application for transfer students. You will need to ensure that you've filled out this application thoroughly, and have paid attention to the supplementary questions specific to Colorado College.

2. Transcripts: You will need to submit official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions you have attended. Your high school transcript is also required unless you have completed an Associate degree or higher.

3. Recommendation Letters: Two academic letters of recommendation are required, ideally from a professor or instructor who can speak to your potential for success at a rigorous liberal arts institution like Colorado College.

4. College Report: The College Report, available through the Common Application, must also be submitted. This report should be filled out by a college official who has access to your academic and disciplinary records (often a dean or registrar official).

5. Essays: Colorado College asks that you submit both a personal statement (which will be included in your Common Application) and a writing supplement.

As for the deadlines, there are two rounds. The fall deadline is typically on March 1 and the spring deadline is usually set for October 15.

One unique aspect about Colorado College is its Block Plan, where students take one course at a time for three and a half weeks. Demonstrating your readiness and eagerness for this unique approach to learning in your application might make you stand out.

Lastly, if you have less than a full year of college coursework, the admission process will place more emphasis on your high school performance and you may need to submit standardized test scores. So, if you're in that boat, take that into consideration!

Good luck with your transfer application process!
