Confused about transfer courses as per the Complete College Georgia agreement

I'm trying to understand the Complete College Georgia agreement related to transfer courses. How do I figure out which of my community college courses will transfer to a Georgia university? Any guidance on navigating this process or resources to use?

Exploring the transfer credits process can be an important part of planning your academic journey. The Complete College Georgia initiative has established a transfer agreement to help streamline the process for students transitioning from community colleges to four-year institutions within the state.

Each college within Georgia has a transfer equivalency chart, which tells you how your credits from your old school (the community college) will apply to your new school (the Georgia university). You input the course codes from your community college, and it will tell you an equivalent course at Georgia University.

Another resource is GAfutures.org, which provides information on course transferability within the University System of Georgia. Here, you can compare courses and qualifications between different institutions. If you log into your GAfutures account, you can find the Transfer Articulation tool under the "My High School HOPE GPA" dashboard. Using this tool, you can select your current institution and the institution where you’re planning to transfer, then see how your credits would be counted at the latter.

Remember, it's also important to speak with an academic advisor at the university you're planning to transfer to. University advisors can give you detailed information about how your credits will transfer to their specific programs and help you understand any remaining coursework you'll need to complete. Being proactive in this process will ensure that you can transition smoothly and maintain timely progress toward your degree.

Still, course transferability doesn’t necessarily mean course applicability. A course may transfer from college A to college B, but that does not mean the course applies to specific degree programs. Therefore, in addition to using online resources, consider reaching out to the universities you're interested in transferring to, specifically their admissions or registrar offices, to get the most accurate information.
