Community college transfer path to University of California?

Does anyone know the transfer requirements from a community college to one of the UC schools? I’m interested in knowing what their priorities are when considering transfer students.

To transfer from a California community college to a school in the UC system, there are a few general requirements you'll need to meet:

1. Complete 60 semester (90 quarter) units of transferable college credit with a GPA of at least 2.4 for California residents, and 2.8 for non-residents. These units should include a minimum of seven courses in English communication mathematical concepts and quantitative reasoning.

2. Complete the "Seven Course Pattern" with grades of C or better. This includes two transferable college courses in English (composition/critical thinking), one transferable college course in mathematical concepts and quantitative reasoning, and four transferable college courses from at least two of the following subject areas: arts and humanities, social and behavioral sciences, and physical and biological sciences.

When assessing transfer students, UC schools prioritize junior-level transfers from California community colleges and give strong consideration to those who have completed courses in their intended major and have utilized their education to better their community or attain their academic goals.

Keep in mind, that specific UCs and specific majors may have additional requirements. It's always a good idea to look at the transfer admission page of the specific UC you're interested in and connect with an admissions officer for the most accurate and personalized information. For example, majors like Engineering, Computer Science, or Business may have more stringent requirements.

Lastly, you might be interested in the "Transfer Admission Guarantee" (TAG), which provides guaranteed admission to one of six UC campuses (UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Santa Cruz) for students at participating California Community College campuses. This program has its own specific set of requirements and deadlines, and it can be an excellent pathway for dedicated students.
