Transferring Credits to Davidson College

I'm thinking about transferring to Davidson College and I'm curious about how they handle transfer credits. Does anyone know how strict they are about what courses will be accepted, and if there's a transfer equivalencies list available?

Davidson College has a comprehensive and fairly flexible policy when handling transfer credits from other accredited post-secondary institutions. The courses must however be compatible with Davidson’s own academic offerings, which primarily means that the courses should be liberal arts in nature.

When it comes to evaluating the courses, the college takes into consideration factors like the nature, content, and rigor of the courses, your academic performance, and the accreditation standards of your previous institutions. Not all credits can be transferred though. Coursework you want to transfer must have earned a grade of C- or better, and must not have been applied towards the requirements of a degree you've already earned.

As for a transfer equivalencies list, Davidson doesn't have a universally applicable list for all colleges. Instead, the evaluation of credits is done on an individual basis once you're accepted and have submitted your deposit. After that, the Registrar’s Office works with academic departments to determine how each course will transfer.

Keep in mind that while Davidson will work to maximize the number of credits they can transfer, the college requires at least two years of coursework done on-campus to earn a Davidson degree.
