Sacramento City College transfer deadlines?

I'm thinking of attending Sacramento City College and then transferring to a four-year university. When should I have my transfer applications ready to go? Any tips for managing all the deadlines?

A student looking to transfer would typically need to have their completed applications submitted anywhere from November of the previous year to as late as March or April of the same year, depending on the university you're looking to transfer to.

For example, UC schools have a transfer admission deadline on November 30th, the year before you plan on attending. CSU schools tend to have windows earlier, and for fall admission, the window typically opens in October and closes in December. Private colleges/universities or those outside of California might vary more significantly, so it would be best to double-check on each school’s website.

I recommend creating a tracking spreadsheet early on in your transfer process. List out each school you are interested in, the required materials for each application (transcripts, recommendations, essays, etc.), and when each component is due. Be sure to check in regularly on your 'one-stop shop', so to speak, to ensure you're staying on track with all your deadlines.

Also, keep a special note if there are any college-specific forms or requirements, these sometimes are a little 'hidden' in the instructions. Don't be ashamed to ask your transfer counselor for assistance, they handle many of these cases each year and would be well-versed in the process.

Remember to manage your time well. Do the tasks that will take the longest first, like writing essays, and leave the quicker tasks like filling out general application information for later. It's a large undertaking, but with careful organization, it's entirely manageable. Good luck!
