Will a college class with a grade below 2.0 transfer?

I got a C- in a college class and it's considered below a 2.0. What are the odds that this course will transfer to another college, or should I retake it to improve my transcript?

The transferability of that class will largely depend on the policies of the school you are transferring to. Some colleges will accept a grade as low as a C- for credit, while many require a minimum of a 2.0 or C grade. Additionally, if the course is pertinent to your intended major, some programs will ask for an even higher grade to grant transfer credit.

Therefore, it's best to reach out to the specific admissions office or academic advisers of the college you are considering transferring to. They'll provide you the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding their policies.

Before you make a decision to retake the course, it's important to consider your overall academic path: What's your ultimate goal? Is this a key pre-requisite for your intended major or likely future courses? If this course is important for your major and future studies, retaking and achieving a higher grade could demonstrate a mastery of the material and similar classes at a 4-year institution.

Remember that you're not the only one in this boat. Many students have a course or two that don't go as planned. College is a learning experience so use this as an opportunity to learn and improve.
