What GPA do colleges consider for transfer applications?

I'm a bit confused about what GPA colleges look at when you're transferring. Is it the cumulative GPA from my current college or just the GPA from my recent semesters?

When considering transfer applications, colleges generally look at your cumulative GPA from the school you're currently attending, not just your recent semesters. This means that all of your grades from all of your semesters at this institution will be taken into account. However, recent semesters can, of course, be particularly revealing, as they can show improvement or a downward trend. Your high school GPA, while less impactful, can also sometimes be considered, along with your standardized test scores if required.

Additionally, some colleges will also look at the difficulty of the courses you've taken, with more rigorous classes potentially complementing a slightly lower GPA. Keep in mind that each college has its own admissions process, so you may want to reach out to the admissions offices of the colleges you're interested to get more specifics about their standards. To give yourself the best chance, continue to work hard to maintain or improve your GPA and select challenging courses whenever possible.
