Do specific grades matter when transferring colleges?

In the transfer process, do certain grades in specific subjects weigh more heavily than others? I'm unsure if I should focus on boosting particular subjects before applying to a new school.

When considering transfer applications, colleges do pay close attention to your college GPA, which naturally includes grades in all of your courses. The weight placed on specific subjects may vary depending on the major you're intending to pursue at the new institution. For example, if you're planning on pursuing a STEM major, your grades in math and science courses may carry more weight.

In general, colleges are going to want to see that you're capable of handling rigorous coursework and achieving high marks, regardless of the subject. So, if you're planning to major in English, grades in your literature and writing classes will be particularly important.
