Do I have to list transfer colleges in my application?

I'm filling out my applications for transfer, and I'm unsure if I need to include every college I've attended, even if it was just for a few credits. How should I handle this on my application?

When applying to transfer, it is indeed important that you include all of the colleges you've attended, even if it was just for a few credits. The schools you're applying to will want to see your complete academic history, and not providing that information can lead to complications down the line.

This is because when you provide your complete post-secondary education history, colleges can make a more informed decision about your eligibility, course requirements, and potential credits earned from prior institutions.

On the Common Application for transfer students, for example, there's a section where you're required to list all the colleges and universities you've enrolled at, regardless of the length of attendance. You'll need to provide transcripts from these schools as part of your application.

So while it might seem unnecessary to include that information, it's an important part of the application process. Keep in mind, a few credits here and there could add up and potentially save you quite a bit of time and tuition money if they count towards your degree requirements at your new school. Just be honest, upfront, and comprehensive in your disclosures, and you should be in good shape.
