How many community college credits can you transfer to ASU?

I'm going to a community college with plans to transfer to Arizona State University and I'm trying to figure out how many credits I can transfer. Does anyone know the maximum or have experience with this?

Arizona State University (ASU) has a rather generous policy in terms of accepting transfer credits from community colleges. While the university will review all credits from regionally accredited institutions, not all credits may apply to your specific degree.

In terms of the maximum number of community college credits you can transfer, ASU typically accepts up to 64 college credits from a community or junior college. This is equivalent to completing your first two years (or four semesters of full-time study) at a community college.

However, it's also important to keep in mind that just because ASU accepts these credits does not mean they will directly apply to your intended major at ASU. That is, not all of the courses you take at community college may match the courses required for your degree at ASU. Therefore, it's crucial to consult with an advisor or to use ASU’s "Transfer Guide" tool to make sure your community college classes align with ASU’s degree requirements.

In conclusion, while ASU does have a ceiling of 64 transferable credits, it's advisable to focus not just on the quantity of classes, but also on the relevancy of these courses to your intended major. In doing so, you can ensure a smoother transition and timely graduation journey once you transfer.
