How can I send my test scores when transferring to colleges?

I'm currently planning to transfer to another college and I'm unsure how to send my previous test scores. Is there a specific process for transferring these scores, and do all colleges accept them the same way?

For transferring your scores to different colleges, you generally will need to send your SAT or ACT scores directly from the testing agency (College Board for SAT and ACT Inc for ACT). This procedure is the same as when you initially applied to college. Essentially, you will need to log onto the respective portal and select the colleges you want to send your scores to. You may be charged a fee for each score report sent, but fee waivers are available for qualifying students.

As for how colleges accept these scores, it varies. Some schools may no longer require SAT or ACT results for transfer students, particularly if you have completed a certain number of college credits. Because policies can vary widely between institutions, it's essential to check the specific requirements of each school you're applying to transfer to.

Additionally, you'll also need to send in your college transcript. Often, the grades you receive in your college courses carry more weight than your high school test scores when you're transferring.

This all being said, because requirements can change and this is a general process, it's always a good idea to contact the admissions office at the college you're applying to confirm their process and requirements.
