How do transfer credits work at Farmingdale State College?

I'm considering transferring to Farmingdale State College and I'm curious about how the credit transfer process works. Does anyone know what forms I need to fill out and how the transfer credits are evaluated?

To transfer credits to Farmingdale State College, the most important step you have to undertake is to send your official transcript(s) from your previous college(s) or university(ies) to the Office of Admissions at Farmingdale.

Once the Office of Admissions receives your transcript(s), they will work in coordination with the academic department to evaluate your transfer credits. It's the academic department that has the final say in which courses can be transferred for credit toward your major, while the Office of Admissions determines transferability of credits not applicable to the major.

You don't typically have to fill out a separate form for this process, aside from your general transfer application. However, if you'd like to know beforehand which of your credits are likely to transfer, Farmingdale provides a tool called 'Transfer Evaluation System (TES)' on their website. TES provides a course-by-course listing of transferrable credits from many institutions.

Remember that Farmingdale requires a minimum grade of C- in a course for it to be considered for transfer. The college also doesn't transfer courses from non-accredited institutions, remedial coursework, or courses taken more than ten years ago.

Once your credits have been evaluated, the results will be posted to your OASIS account, under “View Transcript”. To review them, you would log in to your OASIS account, click on “Student Records”, click on “Academic transcript”, and then click on “Submit”.

If you disagree with the results of your evaluation, or if you find that a course(s) has not been evaluated, contact the Transfer Services Office through email or phone to discuss your next steps. Be prepared to provide a course description or syllabus for any course(s) in question.

You should also attend a transfer orientation session, which is a great opportunity to ask questions about transferring credits, among other things.

I hope this clarifies the process for you. Good luck with your transfer!
