Fresno City College transfer requirements for CSU transfers?

I'm attending Fresno City College and aiming to transfer to a CSU. What are the transfer requirements I need to meet? Are there specific general education courses or GPA requirements I should be aware of?

To transfer to a CSU (California State University) from Fresno City College, you'd need to meet the following requirements:

1. Complete at least 60 transferable semester units (or 90 quarter units).

2. Your cumulative GPA needs to be at least 2.0, which is the minimum requirement for admission to any CSU as a transfer student

3. Satisfy the general education requirements. Many CSUs prefer that you complete the GE (General Education) Breadth or IGETC (Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum) requirements prior to transferring. The courses you need for these requirements encompass different areas of knowledge, like English communication, mathematical concepts, arts and humanities, physical and biological sciences, and social sciences, among others.

4. In addition to those, you'd also need to complete four basic skill courses with a grade of C- or better:

- One course in Oral Communication

- One course in Written Communication

- One course in Critical Thinking

- One course in Mathematics/Quantitative Reasoning

Lastly, make sure to carefully choose your major and meet any prerequisites it may have. Some CSU campuses and majors have more competitive admission requirements due to limited space.

Always double-check your requirements on Fresno City College's official website or talk to a transfer counselor about specifics, as CSU transfer requirements can change each year.
