To have a competitive application for transfer to UC Berkeley, it's recommended that you aim for a GPA of around 3.8 or higher.
However, note that not all applicants with a 3.8 and above are admitted while others with less than a 3.8 are. Berkeley evaluates transfer applicants the way they evaluate freshmen, looking at your GPA within context, the rigor of your community college courses, and your personal essays. It's important to choose courses that are challenging and align with the major you want to pursue at Berkeley.
Also remember, UC Berkeley doesn't just look at your GPA, they also want to see that you're involved in meaningful extracurricular activities and that you can articulate your experiences and passion for your intended major in your personal essays.
The UC application period for transferring opens on October 1st and the deadline to submit an application is usually at the end of November of each year. By this timeline you should have completed 60 transferable semester units or 90 quarter units by the end of the spring term prior to the fall for which you apply. You must also be in good standing at every UC campus, meaning you’re eligible to re–enroll and you currently aren’t under dismissal, probation, or disqualification.
