Housing considerations for Ithaca College transfers

I'm thinking about transferring to Ithaca College and am concerned about housing availability. Do transfer students get on-campus housing, or should I start looking for off-campus options? How competitive is it to find a place?

Ithaca College aims to accommodate as many transfer students as possible in on-campus housing, but availability can vary each year based on the number of incoming students. In general, transfer students are randomly assigned to any available spaces after returning students have made their selections. However, if the demand is higher than the available room, some transfer students may have to look at off-campus housing.

If you end up needing to find off-campus housing, start your search early. Ithaca is a small city with two universities, so housing—especially affordable, conveniently-located housing—can be competitive. However, many students at both Ithaca College and Cornell University live off-campus, so there are certainly options available. Places closer to the college are likely to be more expensive, while those further away may require you to have a car or to use public transportation.

Additionally, Ithaca College's Office of Residential Life can provide you with resources to support you in your off-campus housing search. These may include listings of available apartments, an off-campus housing guide, and workshops on lease signing and off-campus living. It can be helpful to connect with other transfer students or to join online communities for Ithaca College students to get insights on the best places to live.

It's a good idea to keep in contact with the Office of Residential Life to stay updated on the housing situation. Good luck with your transfer process!
