Do credits transfer if you were expelled from college?

If you get expelled from a college, can you transfer any of the credits you earned there to another institution? Or does the expulsion impact the transferability of those credits?

After an expulsion from a college or university, transferring credits to another institution may be possible, but it largely depends on the policies of the school you wish to transfer to. Many colleges require a transcript from any previous institution you've attended, and an expulsion will generally appear on this transcript. The expulsion does not necessarily nullify your credits; however, it might make another college less likely to accept them.

Keep in mind that regardless of any misconduct or disciplinary actions, academic credit for completed coursework is usually based on your performance in those courses. If you passed your classes and earned credits, those credits may still be considered for transfer.

However, it's also important to remember that transfer policies vary greatly from one institution to another. Some institutions may not accept credits from students who were expelled, while others might do so under certain conditions. It also depends on the reason for the expulsion. If it was due to academic dishonesty, for example, it could be much harder to transfer the credits.

The best course of action would be reaching out to the admissions offices of the schools you're considering transferring to and asking about their specific policies regarding such circumstances. That way, you'll get the most accurate and relevant information for your situation.
