Any experience with Isenberg transfer class equivalents from GCC?

Has anyone transferred from Greenfield Community College to the Isenberg School of Management? I'm trying to figure out how class equivalents work and if there are specific courses I should take at GCC to make the transfer smoother.

When it comes to transferring credits between colleges, there’s typically a process in place where each individual transferred course will be evaluated for equivalence with courses in the target institution—in this case, the Isenberg School of Management.

While I can't speak to specific experiences, I know that the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst has resources dedicated to helping transfer students with this process. The registrar's office at both GCC and Isenberg can assist you with this, as they would have a record of typical class equivalencies between the two institutions.

As a general guide, ensure that the courses you're taking at GCC are similar in content and level to the ones offered at Isenberg. For business schools, focus on getting the basic courses such as Intro to Business, Statistics, Economics (Micro and Macro), and Accounting done, as these are usually required at many business schools. This said, the most reliable way would be directly contacting the admissions or registrar's office at Isenberg for precise information.

Another factor to consider is the grade you received in the courses, since typically a grade of C or higher is required for a course to be deemed transferable. Each institution may have different standards, so it would be helpful to learn about those from the respective school's transfer policies.

Remember to keep track of your syllabi – it could come in handy if the registrar's office needs more information to determine whether a course can be transferred. Sometimes, if a class isn’t automatically recognized as equivalent, you can make a case for it by providing the syllabus or other detailed course descriptions.

It would be beneficial to start this process as soon as possible, since it can take some time, and having the information can impact your future course choices at GCC.
